Mesquite and Manna

Notes on a desert parish: the church year, the desert seasons, neighbours and local memory

Write to the desk

How to reach Mesquite and Manna: the address to use, what to send, what not to send, and how corrections are handled.

The desk reads its mail at [email protected]. One address, no form, no telephone line and no office hours: write in English and expect an answer within a week or so, sooner when the message is short.

What to send

Corrections are the most useful thing a reader can send. Say which entry, which sentence, what is wrong and which public document shows the right figure; a link to the document is better than a paragraph of argument. Suggestions for a question the desk should take up are welcome if they name the public source that answers them. If you write about a congregation, an agency or a place, say how you are connected to it, so the answer can be checked.

What not to send

Do not send personal data about a third person, a photograph of an identifiable person, or anything you would not want read by a stranger. Nothing sent to this address is published without an explicit reply saying so.

Corrections

A correction is made in the entry itself and the date at the head of the entry is updated, so that the page always says when it was last checked. Where a correction changes the answer rather than a detail, the old wording is described in the entry rather than quietly deleted.
