Almighty God,
giver of every good gift: Look graciously on your Church, and so
guide the minds of those who shall choose a rector for this
parish that we may receive a faithful pastor, who will care for
your people and equip us for our ministries; through Jesus
Christ our Lord. Amen
The community
at St. Barnabas is seeking a new Rector to lead us in our
corporate worship, outreach and spiritual growth. St Barnabas
is located in Borrego Springs, CA, a small community in San
Diego County surrounded by the 600,000 acre Anza-Borrego Desert
State Park. The population of Borrego Springs is approximately
2,856. Our Church population is approximately 150. The
congregation is unique in that there is a small core group that
live and worship here year round. During the season however,
from about November 1st to May 1st , the congregation
grows considerably requiring a second service.
We are largely
an older population of open and welcoming people at St. Barnabas
who are dedicated to serving one another. We have a choir of
about 8-10 people during the season which shrinks a bit during
the summer months. We have several active groups within the
church, The Women of St. Barnabas, Sarah’s Circle, The Men of
St. Barnabas, Men’s Breakfast and Cursillo. Many of us are
active in the community as well serving as volunteers at The
State Park, The Schools, The Thrift shop which supports the
local Children’s Center and The Performing Arts Center.
We look
forward to finding a rector who will help us grow our
congregation, one who enjoys the peace and tranquility of the
desert and appreciates small town life with access to larger
communities like Palm Springs and San Diego.
